I was bombarded recently with a lot of opportunities which were just too good to refuse. I wanted all. I wanted to embrace all. If I did not have this sole body, i would have been in different places, doing different things to contribute in the bigger picture of stewardship . But just as soon as this wistful thought found its way on my mind, a realization hit me.
I remembered how Jesus constantly used the statement, “This is not yet the hour…” Theological exegesis would have given us a definition of what he meant. But personal hermeneutics would tell me, Jesus took one day at a time in fulfilling God’s will. There were the elements of time, effort and love in becoming the crucified, glorified jesus.
Just as we engage into something, time, effort and love must be present to craft out the best produce. A tree, stong, tall and beautiful, does not grow overnight. A traveler cannot travel far with a heavy backpack on him. Our dreams and our skills will be honed one day at a time. if it is the hour, then it is the hour. But the hour is not ours to tell. We take one day at a time.
